Following are the seven islands and along with the worships of Goddess
1. Colaba: whose name is a corruption of the Koli (Fishermen) name Kolbhatin Marathi - Goddess- Mumbadevi. She is the goddess of Mung Koli Samaj. The main spot in this area is Gateway of India and Taj Hotel.
2. Old Woman’s Island: This is an Old Man’s Island having a small rock between Colaba and Mumbai or Popularly Known as Chota Colaba -Goddess- Kalbadevi. This is the Goddess of Koli. Colaba Causeway Market is the main spot to visit.
3. Mumbai: This is the main harbor area and area of the fort. It started from Dongri on the east to Malabar Hill on the west. Walkeshwar Temple and Hanging Garden are coming in this area.-Goddess– Gaondevi, even Pathare Prabhu also worshipped to this Goddess
4. Mazagaon: This is the humble fishing village area to the east of Mumbai Island which was separated from it by Umarkhadi and Pydhonie. It now serves as one of the City’s Harbor Ports. Mumbai’s sole Chinese temple is coming in this area. Goddess- Mahalaxmi
5. Worli: This is north of Mumbai. Goddess- Golfadevi. Golfadevi is one of the troika of Goddesses (Golfadevi, Sakbadevi and Harbadevi) This Goddess is being worshipped by the fishermen community
6. Parel: This is nothing but the northern part of Mazagaon and called by many other names, including Matunga, Dharavi and Sion. It has evolved into a bustling residential hub. It also retains remnants of its industrial past in the form of textile miles. The original population was predominantly Koli.-Goddess Prabhadevi
7. Mahim: This is to the west of Parel and north of Worli. It connects south Mumbai to North Mumbai. It took the name from the Goddess Mahimad evi. It was the capital of a 13th century kingdom founded by Raja Bhimdev. Goddess– Mahimadevi. Once upon a time, Mahim was very famous for the cultivation of coconut trees.
To check and confirm when these islands are inhabited, no historical data is available. As per history of Kandivali which is the part of northern Mumbai, these islands were inhabited from stone-age. Original residents of Mumbai are Koli and their mother tongue is Marathi. Native Christians including East Indian who have been converted by Portuguese are also Koli people.
