Subject : Seventy three Years for adoption of our constitution
Today, 26th November is an important day in the history of free India because on 26th November 1949, Indian Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India and it became effective on 26 January 1950. This constitution declared India as sovereign, Democratic republic, and a secular country and also assuring the justice, equality and liberty to its Citizens. It also promotes the fraternity. And for last seventy years, Indian constitution assures us the dignity of the individual and unity of India.
The India Constitution is the longest constitution. It covered 165 days to consider the draft of Constitution. It had 395 articles in 22 parts and 8 schedules which have been amended more than 100 times till now. The Constitution Assembly took three years to complete the drafting of the Constitution of Independent India. It has given us perfect policies for its structure, powers, political code and duties of Public institutions by setting fundamental rights and duties of Citizens.
At the time of ratifying the Constitution of India, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar said that we have accepted the Parliamentary Democracy and to protect this democracy , one should be careful and should not do the following three points.
1. One should not use the method the method of Civil disobedience , non- cooperation and Satyagraha.
2. Do not submit yourself to charismatic authority which will lead to autocratic type of government. According to him,’ Bhakti in religion may be road to salvation of soul but in politics, Bhakti or hero worship is a sure road to degradation and to eventual dictatorship.
3. Do not deny equality. He said, “If we continue to deny it (equality) for long, we will do so only by putting our political democracy in peril,”
Indian Constitution is significant constitution. It has brought the transition of India from Colonel Rule to secular and democratic nation which is binding all India together. That is why person from Kashmir can reach to Kanyakumari without any hesitation. This is our national book; no other book can be compared to it. Therefore, we as Indian , proud of our Constitution which has made this country as Republic.
