Mahatma Gandhi and Today’s world

Mahatma Gandhi and Today’s world

On 2nd October 2019, whole world is going to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma means great soul, who was an architect of Indian freedom movement. On the 70th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the great renowned scientist Albert Einstein said,” Generations to come, it may well be, will scare believe that such a man as this one ever in flesh and blood walked upon this Earth”. Albert Einstein was a great admirer of Mahatma Gandhi. A letter written by him to Gandhi, he mentioned, “I am sending you this message with the help of your friend in our home. You have shown the world that victory or success is possible without violence, even with those people who still follow the method of violence. We may hope that influence of your work spreads beyond the borders of your nation and help in establishing an international authority which is respected by all to take decisions and replace war conflicts”.

When you look into historical facts to understand the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, you will come to that not only Albert Einstein but many world leaders who are fighting against social and political injustice have been influenced by Gandhi’s work; and all of this continues even after 70 years of his death. His greatest ability was to walk his talk at every level and in every way. India as a nation of many diverse nationalities. British created an artificial territory of India for their benefits but this has been endowed to all Indians by Mahatma Gandhi. He was a Visionary leader and pioneer of Satyagraha and also inspired all Indians to understand and learn resistance through non-violent civil disobedience. He established himself as a slave of the people of India, empowering the general public. Just like millions of his country’s people, he resorted to simple and poor living. Therefore, people looked at him as one of their own and could see their own suffering in him. Thus , he is great statesman and a man of vision.

From Yogesh Gogwekar.

The objectives of this writing is just to understand his leadership in today’s world. That is nothing but to understand the basic principles, ideas and alternatives of Gandhi to help us to face social and ecological challenges of current period. It is a small attempt to understand the leadership skill and qualities of Mahatma Gandhi and its implications in Today’s management.

Following are some qualities of this great man which can be used by leaders in business world.

1.       His greatest ability to walk his talk at every level and every day. This is the leadership by example.

2.       Same treatment to each individual. Whenever he used to speak in public meeting, every individual used to feel that he was speaking with him.

3.       Extraordinary persistence to achieve his articulated visions and methods.

4.       He used to give an importance to continual growth

5.       Using Non-violent methods to achieve the goals, that means, discuss, debate on the subject and not to use strength through muscle power.

6.       Understating the problems of our opponents by using diplomacy and compassion.

7.       Developing leaders and not followers.

8.       He was wonderful strategist and has an amazing public relations network. Best example is organisation of Dandi March Satyagraha.

9.       Mahatma Gandhi always used to believe in self-discipline to achieve his goals. Best example Satyagraha of 1942.

10.   Ability to say no when it is required.
Thus, I have considered above ten qualities of Mahatma Gandhi to understand and can be used by any leaders at the time of carrying out their objectives. After receiving the higher education, many person tend to think that certain tasks are somehow beneath them especially in household and they often do because they have to do. If they have a choice to do from someone else, they would prefer to give such a task. But Gandhi will believe in himself to do the same. For him, any task involves the use of one’s hand and feet was good. By doing this, he thought that man can stay grounded and engage in manual labour which connects with millions of people around the world who are earning their daily wages by doing the same task.

Gandhi’s entire work life is to bring about positive change whether it is succeeded and failed in what he sought to do. He always moved forward. Today’s world, he will be remembered not only political leader but as a moralist who appealed to the universal conscience of mankind. He not only changed the world but also gave to the world the way of thinking about and acting upon value system. He was charismatic, analytical, transformational and transactional leader who taught us only love and peace can bring to harmony to our world.

Through this writing, I pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi  who is revered as Father of Nation.

The Unheard Architects of a Golden Era: Contribution of Goan Christians to Hindi Film Music

Subject: The Unheard Architects of a Golden Era: Contribution of Goan Christians to Hindi Film Music Written by: Yogesh Gogwekar Address: Mahim, Mumbai  While reading Hindi Film Songs: Music Beyond Boundaries , the seminal work of Dr. Ashok D. Ranade, an ethnomusicologist and pioneer of cultural musicology, encounters a striking idea: though cinema is a visual medium, Indian cinema has for decades functioned as a dream factory where the song is its chief currency. According to Dr. Ranade, the Hindi film song is both deeply embedded in the cinematic narrative and yet capable of living a life entirely beyond it. As a cultural-musical unit, it transcends the film, the language, and even the region that produced it. Hindi film music, he observes, flows “here, there, and everywhere”—a truth every Indian instinctively recognizes. These songs are not merely entertainment; they are collective memory, cultural identity, and a shared national soundtrack. This is especially evide...
