Everyone has 24 hours per day but some exceptional make
those 24 hours into 48 hours of work per day and lived nearly 150 years of
working life. Govind Sripad Talwalkar was one of them. He was liberal &
living legend & icon of Maharastrians. Impact of his writing always
compared to Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Remembering all these because of two books
which have recently been read by me. One was Dnyanmurty Govind Talwalkar a
biography written by his daughters and Vaicharik Vyaspith written by him.
From Yogesh Gogwekar
Dnyanmurty Govind Talwalkar is a biography of
Talwalkar written in Marathi by his daughters Dr. NIRUPAMA & SUSHMA
TAWLAKAR. Writers have covered all aspects of his life from Childhood , his
life in Dombivili, his life as journalist in Mumbai and writer , his passion
for Garden, books and also his relationships with intellectuals not only in
Maharashtra or in India but also at international level. It is really fantastic
and good book to read.
Another book Vaicharik Vyaspith written by Govind Talwalkar
is nothing but history selected newspapers. In this case, he had considered
only 15 English newspapers. He considered 7 international newspapers, 7
Indian newspapers & one Pakistani Newspaper I.e. Dawn. Book is really
fantastic and worth to read.
Even though he was admirer of Mahatma Gandhi &
Jawaharlal Nehru, he did not accept any specific school of thought. I
have read most of his books. One of the best and informative book was Transfer
of power which is known as Sattantar in Marathi.
Good to read Talwalkar again. Really, there was no other
editor like him who was writing the editorial column after reading between the
lines.
